On a cold Sunday morning, when the world was still snoozing, I had a sudden craving for a classic European brunch. Maybe I had dreamt of it, or it was an inception, but braving the chilled winds, I decided to visit Hauz Khas village’s quirky lanes to discover someplace new. The lazy village life begins late and I found myself beckoned by a blue door of a white house, titled KAFED’OR. Not knowing what I was in for, I seated myself beside potted greenery, a sliver of sun caressing my face and a steaming coffee tantalising my senses.

KAFED’OR by former TV actress Kamia Malhotra, of Buniyaad fame, is a quaint little place, done completely in white, with black and white photographs of iconic European and Hollywood ἀlms on its bare walls. I found the place reminiscent of the English cafés that one loves to indulge in to sample an era gone by.
